do private flight attendants have discounts on regular flights?
My friend is a freelance private jet flight attendant, does she get a discount when she travels on a regular airline, is there something similar to what they call “in the biz” for other industries? If there is a way to get a discount what does she need to do?
My question pertains leisure travel, for example if my friend wants to go on a vacation can she get a break on a regular airline as a courtesy. I’ve heard pilots and other industries extend courtesy or discounts to people related to the bussiness. How can she get more information about this. Since she is a private F/A and she is freelance will she still get that type of treatment?
It is possible but I have a feeling she will not get too big a discount. The airlines need all the money they can get. Even if she did get a discount, since she did not pay full price, if a passenger buys a ticket at the last minute, and pays full price, that passenger can bump your friend off.
My Mom used to work for Comair before it was bought by Delta. When my Dad flew, she was able to buy tickets for $60 but she had to make sure the flight was not too full because if it was, my Dad could get bumped off the flight he was scheduled on.
